This delightful costume is based on those worn in the German region of Bavaria.

The simple but attractive dress consists of a black square necked, fully lined bodice with interesting lacing detail with silver chain and beads. The short, white puffed sleeves are trimmed with lace and a cotton lace neckerchief is tucked into the bodice with a small posy of flowers. The skirt of the dress is in red cotton trimmed with two bands of black ribbon and a white cotton apron with pin-tuck detail is worn over this. 

The outfit is completed with a soft black felt hat decorated with gold braid and a feather.
