A superbly hand-crafted miniature porcelain doll standing approx. five and a half inches tall. This is Henry VIII's third wife, Jane Seymour. Dressed in a pure two-tone silk over-gown with large turned back sleeves lined with gold net and worn over silk brocade false sleeves to match the centre panel of her under-gown. On her head she wears the elaborate short version of the English Gable Hood with part of the black silk veil pinned up onto the hood. Around her neck is a lavish necklace, each pearl and crystal individually applied. A long crystal belt hangs from her waist and her fingers are decorated with several crystal ‘rings’. Underneath, Jane has real leather slippers and white
cotton under garments. |
