I had a little nut tree, nothing would it bear,
But a silver nutmeg and a golden pear,
The King of Spain’s daughter came to visit me,
And all for the sake of my little nut tree.
‘Once upon a time there lived a country maid who owned a very special and magical nut tree. The tree never grew any nuts, just a solid silver nutmeg and a solid golden pear! One day a Spanish princess heard about the maid’s strange tree and journeyed all the way to England to see it for herself. Sure enough, there in the branches grew nothing else but one single silver nutmeg and one single golden pear!’
This stunning and unusual OOAK one twelfth scale ensemble has been lovingly created from a charming Olde English nursery rhyme. The ensemble consists of two exquisitely dressed one twelfth scale dolls and a miniature nut tree in its own special base.
The OOAK nut tree was specially hand crafted for Angelique Miniatures by Diana Stevens Capehart of the USA. This truly amazing miniature tree stands in a walled and ‘grassy’ base complete with tiny flowers around the bottom of the trunk! Each little leaf is individually wired and both trunk and leaves are painted with magical pearly glitter. The wall around the tree is part of a beautifully hand crafted ‘stone’ base measuring just under twelve inches long by just under eight inches wide. The bottom of the base to the top of the tree measures about twelve inches tall.
The exquisite 'silver' nutmeg and 'golden' pear that ‘grow’ in the tree have been specially hand made for Angelique by the UK’s ‘Icklebits’.
The pretty young country maid has been specially designed and hand crafted by Angelique Miniatures. She wears working clothes based on the Tudor period.
Her green cotton bodice is laced over a cream cotton blouse and she wears a matching cream cap over her flaxen blonde hair. A cream cotton apron is hitched over a dark brown cotton skirt and on her feet she wears brown leather shoes. Underneath she wears simple white lace trimmed cotton petticoat and knee length pantaloons.
The Spanish Princess has also been specially designed and hand crafted by Angelique. She wears a sumptuous gown of black silk trimmed with black and gold braid. The front of her trained gown is open to reveal a rich brocade panel and from her pointed bodice hangs a chain of sparkling black and clear crystals. The bodice of her gown is embellished with braid and individually applied faux pears and crystals. Around her neck and wrists are delicate ivory lace ruffs and in one hand she carries a pair of black leather gloves.
Underneath, the princess wears a white lace trimmed petticoat and matching pantaloons along with black pointed-toe leather slippers decorated with crystals and braid. Her beautiful raven hair is arranged under a matching,
feather -trimmed hat worn at a very jaunty angle.
